What is HTML?
HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is a standard markup language for creating and designing Web Pages.
It is describes the structure of a web page and tells the Browser how to render the content. It consists of a series of elements which are used for designing the web page. HTML Elements contain on peices of content to be dispayed in a specific way i.e <h1>This is Heading</h1> , <p>This is Paragraph</p>
HTML Sample Page:

Explanation of the Sample Page:
- The first line
<!DOCTYPE html>declares that this is a HTML5 Document
- The Root of an HTML page is always started with
<html>tag and also closed with
<head>tag/element contains on meta details about the web page
<title>tag is used to define the Page Title. The Page Title is displayed in the browser's titlebar.
<h1>tag is used to define a large heading.
<p>tag is used to write a paragraph on the web page.
What are HTML Elements:
A HTML Element is used to hold peices of content and tells the browser how to display the content and in what style it would be displayed. HTML Elements are defined as <tag> content here
</tag>. HTML elements are started with a tag and also closed with an ending tag. Some HTML elements are listed bellow:

Short History of HTML:
In 1989, Tim Berners-Lee invented www (world-wide-web) and in 1991, he invented HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language). His invention made it easy to create web pages for www in a simple and easy way.
As the time passed, many upgradations are made on HTML. In the year 1993, Dave Ragget drefted next version of HTML named as HTML+
Since 1989, many changes are made in HTML and in the year 2008, HTML5 was drafted by HTML Working Group and now the HTML5.1 2nd edition is the latest version of HTML5.
